Vancouver’s Spencer Tibbits advanced to match play Tuesday at the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
Tibbits shot 3-over par 74 Tuesday to finish two days of stroke play at 1-over. Tibbits finished tied for 48th with the top 64 players advancing to match play, which begins Wednesday.
Tibbits is in familiar territory. The Oregon State senior has played roughly 20 rounds at Bandon Dunes. He reached the Round of 64 at last year’s U.S. Amateur in Pinehurst, N.C.
