Clark County Public Health reported 92 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths in weekend numbers reported Monday.

The new cases tallied Saturday, Sunday and Monday brings the county’s total to 2,110 cases to date.

So far, 42 deaths have been caused by COVID-19 in Clark County, according to Public Health data.

The number of new cases averaged just over 30 cases per day.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 rose by two to 14 cases as of Monday, according to Public Health. The number of people hospitalized awaiting test results held steady at four.

As of Aug. 4, the county’s rate of new cases per 100,000 population was 74.3 over a two-week period. That rate, which is updated weekly, is just below the level for being considered “high risk,” which would keep schools closed to in-person instruction, according to nonbinding state recommendations.

In July, the county’s transmission rate varied between 96.4 and 99.7 new cases per 100,000 residents in two separate two-week periods.

In “moderate risk” counties, transmission rates are between 25 and 75 new cases. For those communities, the state recommends continuing distance learning for middle and high school students, with some in-person instruction for elementary school students and students with special needs.

Eight Clark County school districts have previously recommended a fully remote start to the school year.
