With 26 new cases of COVID-19, Clark County topped 2,000 confirmed cases of the disease Friday. Clark County Public Health also reported one death.
Clark County has seen 42 deaths from 2,018 cases of novel coronavirus since the first patients were diagnosed in early March. The death reported Friday was a woman in her 70s with undetermined underlying conditions, according to Public Health.
The county’s first case of COVID-19 was reported March 7. It took just shy of three months for the first thousand cases to amass. The county topped 1,000 cases on the Fourth of July weekend. Public Health doesn’t report counts on Saturday or Sunday but the July 6 report of 107 cases brought the county’s total to 1,008. In only 32 days, the county doubled its case count to Friday’s 2,018.
According to the Public Health website, 12 people are hospitalized in Clark County for COVID-19, with another four hospital patients waiting on tests results. Some 59.1 percent of hospital beds at PeaceHealth Southwest and Legacy Salmon Creek medical centers are occupied — 2.5 percent with COVID-19 patients.
According to the Washington State Department of Health, statewide Washington has confirmed 60,917 cases with 1,653 deaths. Testing and positivity rates were not available Friday afternoon.
