Two new deaths, 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Clark CountyFree

In the first update since Friday, Clark County Public Health reported two new deaths and 12 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The total number of confirmed cases in Clark County stands at 339 with 21 total deaths. Public Health is reporting that as of April 25, 3,800 people in the county have been tested. That number is an undercount as state data does not include people receiving rapid-result testing, which is becoming more common in Clark County. The number of positive tests includes all positive tests reported to Public Health, regardless of testing method.

The new deaths were both women ages 80 or older. Five women have died of coronavirus in Clark County; 16 men have died.

The largest cohort of cases in the county continues to be people in their 40s (66 cases), followed by those in their 60s (60) and those in their 50s (58). Nine cases have been reported in those 19 years old or younger.

There are currently 16 people hospitalized for the disease at either Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center or PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, with four in ICU beds.

As of April 27, 68 local cases of coronavirus are associated with long-term care facilities, which includes adult family homes (16), assisted or independent living facilities (39) and skilled nursing facilities (13).

According to the state Department of Health, there are 13,521 cases of COVID-1 in the state; 749 deaths; and more than 175,000 people — about 2.2 percent of the state’s population — have been tested.
