Vancouver Fire Department crews responded to a house fire early Sunday morning near David Douglas Park.
At 2:54 a.m., multiple engines were dispatched to 722 N. Morrison Road. Once there, crews found the house’s two occupants had already evacuated.
Vancouver Fire Department spokesperson Eva Scherer said the fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported. Fire crews rescued a cat from inside the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office and the Vancouver Police Department’s Arson Squad. No damage estimates were available.
The Southwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants of the home, a 1,528-square-foot single-story residence built in 1961.
Emergency scanner traffic indicated that power lines over the home’s backyard complicated the fire department’s response.
The house is near the south end of David Douglas Park, just north of Mill Plain Boulevard and east of Andresen Road.
