Oregon State Police say a 24-year-old Vancouver man died Saturday in a car crash on Highway 18 west of Grande Ronde, Ore.

Troopers and medics responded at 2:47 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash on the highway near Milepost 15, according to a state police news release.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Anthony Maestas was driving a Dodge Caravan west when it left the road, struck a tree and caught on fire, according to the news release.

Maestas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers were assisted by law enforcement from the Polk County, Ore., Sheriff’s Office and Grand Ronde Police Department, as well as the West Valley Fire Department.
