NORTHWEST VANCOUVER — A Vancouver family, typically known for their seasonal decorations, recently created a memorial for those who have died from COVID-19. Jim Mains and his 4-year-old son, Remington, tie a green ribbon to the fence in the front of their home each day, representing a new victim. On April 8, there were more than 400 ribbons. “We had many people send us messages on our ‘Holidays on Franklin’ Facebook page asking if we would consider putting our Christmas display back up during this time,” Mains said in a news release. “We thought this tribute would be a stronger reminder of the importance to stay home as much as possible and to stay physically distant from each other so we can get through this.” The ribbon display can be viewed at 4616 N.W. Franklin St. “Some days we have added 45 ribbons and on other days three,” Mains said. “We are looking forward to the day when we don’t have to add any more.”
