ESTHER SHORT — The nonprofit Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington recently launched the MyBGC Virtual Club, an online resource for youth and their families. “The MyBGC Virtual Club experience models the structure of fun learning activities for elementary age and teenage club members that they ordinarily experience each week in their club,” according to a news release. On Mondays, the club releases a schedule of daily themes for the week and corresponding activities. Throughout the day, other ideas and posts are pushed out on social media. The launch of the virtual club came after the organization suspended normal operations because of COVID-19. “As soon as the COVID-19 crisis hit, our Youth Development Professionals jumped into action and built MyBGC Virtual Club. Staff have developed the lesson plans and virtual content to mirror the in-club experience,” Executive Director Francisco Bueno said in a news release. “We are excited to do our part to support youth and families at this time. Additionally, Comcast is providing low cost options for internet connection for our families.” MyBGC Virtual Club is free to the public. Find out more at www.mybgc.org.
