The Vancouver-based M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust announced its most recent round of grants related to the COVID-19 pandemic Wednesday.

Trustees approved $5,016,000 through 38 grants to Pacific Northwest nonprofit groups, including $1.85 million in Washington. The Clark County Food Bank was among the beneficiaries.

This round of grants focused on organizations serving basic human needs ($4,075,000), cultural influencers and faith-based organizations ($241,000), and community foundations ($700,000). To date, the trust has awarded more than $10.5 million for emergency support during the spread of the novel coronavirus. The trust is expediting its grants process so nonprofits can quickly use the investments to help address needs raised by COVID-19.

“We remain inspired by and grateful for all of the individuals and nonprofits who are putting their own safety at risk to help deliver medical care, food, shelter and other vital resources to those in need,” the trust said in a news release.
