Clark County Public Health confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases and one new death Thursday morning.
The county now has 206 confirmed cases and 14 deaths. A man in his 80s is the latest Clark County resident to die of the virus. Twelve of the county’s 14 deaths are men, while 121 of the county’s cases — nearly 60 percent of cases — are women. Research has shown that women generally have stronger immune systems and are better at fighting the virus.
There are now 20 people hospitalized for the virus in Clark County, and nine people in the intensive care unit.
Seven people in their 80s have died of the virus in Clark County. Another four people in their 70s have died, while two people in their 60s have died. The youngest person to die of the virus in Clark County was in their 40s.
According to state Department of Health data, 8.7 percent of Clark County’s tests have been positive for COVID-19. That’s on par with the state, but the data hasn’t been updated since April 3.
As of the most recent data from Public Health, Clark County has tested more than 1,600 people. Washington has 9,097 confirmed cases and 421 deaths. More than 88,000 people have been tested in Washington.
