BATTLE GROUND — Legacy Health was on the receiving end of hundreds of protective face masks, gowns, eye protection, and 9,000 pairs of gloves, thanks to Battle Ground Public Schools. Multiple schools in the district collected the medical equipment and delivered it to a Legacy Health distribution warehouse, so that it could help doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who are working on the front lines treating people with COVID-19.

Health professionals across the country are being forced to reuse masks and other equipment due to a shortage of supplies. Since schools are out, the district donated a portion, while reserving some for when school resumes. “We respect and admire our health care workers and want to show our appreciation by providing what we can to the community to help during this crisis,” Catherine Shannon, a registered nurse and health services and nursing provider at Battle Ground Public Schools, said in a news release.
