The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, the Columbia River Economic Development Council and Identity Clark County all oppose Initiative 976, a November ballot initiative that would cap licensing fees for vehicle tabs.
In a joint press release issued Monday, the three Clark County business organizations announced their opposition to the proposal, arguing that it would deprive the state’s transportation system of necessary funding for repairs and upgrades, and that those impacts would be felt in Clark County.
“We invite every voter in Southwest Washington to join us in voting no on I-976. Every one of us depends on a well-maintained transportation system to support safe movement of people, freight and commerce,” the three organization leaders — John McDonagh of the chamber, Jennifer Baker of the CREDC and Ron Arp of ICC — wrote in a joint statement.
