Update, 6:55 p.m.: Nash has returned home and is safe, according to police.

Original: Police are searching for a Vancouver boy who left home early Sunday.

Nash Modin, 12, was last seen on home surveillance footage preparing to leave the house, and dressed for wet weather, around 5:45 a.m., according to a Vancouver Police Department news release. He left a note saying he was upset and needed time to reflect.

Nash was not found at any of the locations where he most likely would have gone, police said.

Nash is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 95 pounds with sandy brown hair. He likely is wearing a grey winter coat with fluorescent green sleeves, a packed royal blue backpack and dark pants. He left on foot and has no cell phone, social media accounts or other means of communication, according to police.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
