RIDGEFIELD — The playground at South Ridge Elementary School recently underwent a makeover by the hands of volunteers. Last year, PTO members noticed that playground lines for various activities were getting worn down — lines on the asphalt that had eroded. The group organized a paint party at the beginning of the new school year. Lisa Hernandez’s business, Hernandez Quality Painting, donated paint, while Anne Lamping helped organize. Volunteers Joanne and Stephen Cloud, Hailey Heath, Nick Hunziker and Amber Nelson spent hours cleaning surfaces and painting new lines for basketball goals, hopscotch and tic-tac-toe. Volunteers hope to repaint a United States map next.
