LONGVIEW — Anglers may now keep one adult hatchery Chinook salmon from the Toutle River and North Fork of the Toutle River, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officials announced Saturday.
The rivers have been reopened to Chinook salmon fishing after North Toutle Hatchery broodstock goals were met, according to a press release.
The department had closed the rivers earlier this year after projections estimated there would not be enough Chinook salmon returning to meet broodstock goals, the release said.
The daily salmon limit is six fish. Four adults can be retained, but only one can be a Chinook. All salmon other than hatchery Chinook and coho must be released. The Chinook season closes Nov. 30.
