Heritage volleyball player Katie Peneueta is The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 21.
Peneueta beat out Evergreen’s Chloe Klappholz for the honor.
Peneueta had 48 kills, 26 digs, seven blocks and two aces in three matches last week for the Timberwolves.
Nominations are limited to one per sport, one per school, each week.
Winners of athlete of the week may not be nominated again until the postseason. Individual nominations are limited to one per month.

- CHLOE KLAPPHOLZ, EVERGREEN GIRLS SOCCER: Klappholz scored six goals and added one assist in two wins.
- BRANDON MUKENSNABL, SKYVIEW BOYS TENNIS: Mukensnabl won two straight-set matches including a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) grinder in match vs. Columbia River.
- ALLYSON PETERSON, HOCKINSON GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Peterson placed second overall on the hard course at the Three Course Challenge in Seaside, Ore.
- BRYANNA UNGS, LA CENTER GIRLS SWIMMING: Ungs won the 50 freestyle (25.43) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.88) in state-qualifying times in a meet at Kelso.
