I-205 Bridge work affects cyclists

Paving following construction of a sanitary sewer line on Southeast 23rd Street will continue to affect cyclists accessing the Interstate 205 Bridge into Oregon.

Southeast 23rd Street is the main connector to the bridge’s bicycle path. Construction affects the portion of the street, from Southeast Ellsworth Road east to the end of the street.

Pavement grinding was finished this week. Crews are scheduled to pave today, but weather could affect that schedule.

During paving, the street will be closed. People, pets, vehicles and cyclists should stay off the newly paved surface until the contractor has reopened the street.

Cyclists could experience long delays and might need to walk their bicycles around the construction work zone.

Work could continue into the week of Sept. 30, if needed.
