BATTLE GROUND — At three upcoming public hearings, residents and fire and city officials will discuss a potential annexation of Clark County Fire District 3 by the city of Battle Ground.
The first two events will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 21 at Battle Ground City Hall, 109 S.W. First St., according to a joint news release from the city and fire district. Another, at 6 p.m. Oct. 28, will take place at Fire Station 31, 17718 N.E. 159th St. in Brush Prairie. Residents will have the opportunity to comment.
The proposed annexation may appear before city and fire district voters on the Feb. 11 special election ballot. Annexation has been discussed for a year as city officials cite rising emergency call volumes and a need for long-term planning.
Information can be found on the city’s website. Additional questions can be sent to Fire District 3 Chief Scott Sorenson, scott@fire3.org, or Battle Ground City Manager Erin Erdman, erin.erdman@cityofbg.org.
