Trace Ridgeway accounted for 309 total yards as Montesano cruised to a 54-14 victory over the Bruins.
The Bulldogs scored on their first possession, a Ridgeway to Sam Winter pass, to take a 6-0 lead. Columbia tied the game back up on Montesano’s next series as Austin Charters scooped up a fumble and sprinted 85 yards for the touchdown. Zavier Smith’s PAT gave Columbia a 7-6 lead halfway through the first quarter.
But that was as close as the Bruins would get, as Montesano rattled off 48 unanswered points, led by Ridgeway’s 210 yards passing.
Montesano had two other scoring opportunities, but the Charters fumble recovery and a Ryan Howard interception on the Bruins 5-yard line stymied both Bulldog scoring drives.
