Dalton Payne threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for one more as the Washougal Panthers scored early and often in both teams’ 2A Greater St. Helens league opener.
Payne completed 17 of 26 passes to nine different receivers on the evening. Brevan Bea added two touchdowns rushing and another receiving for the Panthers (2-1, 1-0 league), who scored 22 of their 47 points in the opening quarter. His rushing touchdown came on Washougal’s opening drive where Bea carried the ball five times from the Wildcat formation.
Cisco Yager scored two touchdowns — one on a fumble return and another on a pass from Isaiah Flanagan — for Woodland (0-3, 0-1). The Beavers travel to Longview next week to face R.A. Long.
Judson Mansfield caught three passes for 104 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers, who travel to Chehalis next week to take on W.F. West from the 2A Evergreen Conference.
