How Clark County college football players fared, Sept. 14

By Micah Rice, Columbian Sports Editor
Published: September 15, 2019, 4:54pm

Three weeks into the college football season, marked the debut of two players from Clark County at major programs.

Darien Chase, a true freshman from Union, saw his first collegiate action in Nebraska’s 44-8 win over Northern Illinois.

What’s more, Chase notched his first collegiate catch, a 13-yard reception in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Cole Grossman saw his first action for Montana in the Grizzlies’ loss to Oregon. Originally recruited as a tight end, the Skyview High grad has switched to linebacker after grey-shirting last season.

As always, email updates to Sports Editor Micah Rice at micah.rice@columbian.com. I’m especially looking for tips on local players at California junior colleges, as those rosters can be tough to find early in the season.
