A 22-year-old Vancouver man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault early today after driving the wrong way on Interstate 5 north of Salmon Creek and causing a three-car pileup, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Jacob W. Riverman drove a 2014 white Jeep Patriot south in the northbound lanes of I-5 at milepost 8.5 just after midnight Saturday, according to the state patrol.
The Jeep crashed into a blue Honda Fit northbound on I-5 driven by Michael A. Wheeler, 65, of Woodland, and then rolled off the roadway.
Then a third car, a silver Ford Edge, crashed into the Honda and both skidded into the freeway median barrier. The state patrol did not provide complete information for the Ford’s driver, who was listed as uninjured. A passenger in the Ford, 24-year-old Desmond J. O’Brien of Portland, was also uninjured, according to the state patrol. Both were wearing seat belts.
