Washougal — The city of Washougal is asking residents to come out to a community reception to meet the four candidates to replace retiring Police Chief Ron Mitchell. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Black Pearl on the Columbia, 56 S. First St.

The reception will provide an opportunity for the community to informally meet and hear from each of the candidates. Mitchell will retire in late November after serving as the chief since 2009. He started his career with the Washougal Police Department in 1996.

The names of the four candidates are expected to be announced on Monday.
