Shumway — The Building Futures Foundation awarded nine students with academic scholarships and six electrical apprentices with tool grants at a Building Industry Association of Clark County meeting earlier this year. This was the first time the program expanded to include candidates pursuing careers in the skilled trades. The tool grants were made possible thanks to a partnership with the Construction Industry Training Council of Washington. The tool grant recipients were: Austin Moburg, Jose Mora, Rio Koford, Ryan Hurley, Tad Catlin and Tanner Greene. The 2019 scholarship recipients were: Alex Tetz, Alicia Wallingford, Bo Brabec, Ellie Josephson, Eli Loudenback, James Carmona, Kyle Brabec, Marissa Hunter and Michael Cline.
