A fire destroyed a barn Wednesday afternoon in north Clark County.

Clark County Fire District 10 was dispatched at 2:41 p.m. to 39217 N.E. Christensen Rd. By the time firefighters arrived, the barn — roughly 40 feet by 40 feet — was fully engulfed in flames and destroyed, Fire District 10 Capt. Tony Barnes said.

The heat singed part of a horse’s coat, but no other injuries were reported, Barnes said. Multiple vehicles, including a pickup truck and tractor, were also destroyed.

The barn was filled with hay that needed to be dried, Barnes said. Crews spent roughly 1½ hours extinguishing the main fire and nearly three hours at the scene.

The property owner reported hearing popping sounds before noticing the fire but initially believed the noises were caused by wind, Barnes said. The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
