Vancouver-based Northwest Pipe Co. announced Tuesday that it has been selected to supply pipe for a new raw water line in North Carolina.

The line is being built for the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and will carry raw water from the Kings Bluff Water Pump Station in Bladen to the Lower Cape Fear Water and Sewer Authority ground reservoir in Brunswick County.

Northwest Pipe will manufacture more than 5,000 tons of 54-inch pipe for the project, translating into about 14 miles of piping. The new line is intended to parallel an existing line that is no longer able to keep up with the community’s demand for water, according to a press release from Northwest Pipe. The contractor for the project, Garney Construction, intends to begin installation in January and complete the project by December 2022.
