The fabric and craft store JoAnn at 11505 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd. in Vancouver will hold an event this weekend to celebrate a remodeling project that added several features from the company’s flagship “concept store,” which it opened last year in Columbus, Ohio. The Vancouver store in the Orchards Marketplace shopping center is one of the first to be updated to the new model, according to a company press release.
The event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Friday and continue through Sunday during the store’s open hours, which are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The first 100 customers in line on each of the three days will have access to limited-time sale pricing and gift cards.
The JoAnn store at that location has been in operation for years and it remained open during the remodel construction.
New store elements include a large open space called the Creators’ Studio, where customers can take classes, host events and work on projects and a concierge service called the JoAnn Custom Shop, which offers a variety of custom sewing services. The store also features a new cutting-counter system that allows customers to check in and then continue shopping until a text message alerts them when a team member is available to cut their fabric.
Customers can also rent tools such as long-arm sewing machines, Cricut machines and Glowforge, which can be used for 3D cutting and engraving.
