State regulators approved an increase to NW Natural’s customer rates on Monday. It’s the first general rate increase in more than a decade.
The agreement increase NW Natural’s annual revenue from natural gas by $5.1 million, or 7.8 percent, according to a press release from the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission.
The agreement also includes a $2.5 million tax refund for customers, most of which will be returned as a rebate.
With the tax refund factored in, the new rates would result in an increase of $1.81 per month for an average residential customer, defined as a customer using 57 therms per month. The new monthly bill for such a customer would be $50.74.
The changes take effect Nov. 1.
