One of the most thrilling football games in the Northwest on Saturday took place in Monmouth, Ore.
Central Washington (3-4,2-1) downed Western Oregon (4-3, 3-1) in overtime, 42-41. The Wildcats overcame a 35-21 deficit in the second half, tying the game at 35 with 58 second left in regulation.
After Central Washington scored a touchdown in overtime and made the PAT, Western Oregon answered with a touchdown. The Wolves went for two and the win, but the pass attempt was incomplete.
Several players from Clark County witnessed the craziness, as the teams have a combined 16 local players on their rosters.
For Central Washington, Isaiah Carbajal (Mountain View) started at defensive end, making four tackles including. Drake Owen (Camas) had two catches for 39 yards. He also returned three kickoffs for 75 yards. Will Ortner (Hockinson) started at left tackle as the Wildcats offense rolled up 503 yards.
For Western Oregon, Justice Murphy (Evergreen) started at wide receiver, making one catch for 10 yards.
