The Camas-Washougal Community Chest awarded $108,500 this year to nonprofit groups in east Clark County. Next year, it aims to give out another $100,000.
This year’s grants supported projects such as setting up a severe weather shelter at the Washougal Senior Center, planting native plants along the Little Washougal River, sending foster children to a two-day camp, providing safe housing for 10 at-risk youth from Camas and Washougal, and producing a Journey Theater showing of “Godspell” at the Washburn Performing Arts Center.
Those interested in donating to the Community Chest’s 2020 campaign can visit www.camaswashougalcommunitychest.org for more information. For nonprofits, applications are available after Tuesday and must be submitted by Dec. 15.
