Jake Blair of Camas is Week 5 prep football player of the week

Quarterback beat out Prairie's Dixson for honor

Jake Blair of Camas is The Columbian prep football player of the week for the week ending Oct. 5.

Blair completed 12 of 14 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Heritage. Blair beat out Prairie quarterback AJ Dixson for the honor.

Blair is the third Papermaker to be honored this season, following Jacques Badolato-Birdsell and Tyler Forner.

Winners may not be nominated again until the postseason, and players may not be nominated in consecutive weeks.

The other nominees

  • ALEC CANN, MOUNTAIN VIEW: Cann rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown and returned a kickoff 91 yards for a score in a win over Hudson’s Bay.
  • AJ DIXSON, PRAIRIE: Dixson passed for 183 yards and rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Kelso.
  • ZYELL GRIFFIN, EVERGREEN: Griffin rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 66 yards in a win over Bellingham.
  • CJ JORDAN, UNION: Jordan rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 210 yards and one touchdown in a loss to Puyallup.
