Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center raised $221,000 to support the Legacy Salmon Creek comprehensive cancer center at a Sept. 7 dinner and auction fundraiser in Ridgefield.

The donations were made in support of a $1 million project to create a comprehensive cancer center on the first floor of Legacy Salmon Creek. The center will include genetic counseling, comprehensive screening and a holistic therapy room to be used for yoga, Pilates, support groups for cancer patients and other needs, according to a press release.

“These gifts are incredibly valuable in our fight against cancer,” said Kelly Espinoza, interim president at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. “We’re grateful to have such generous donors who are committed to the good health of our community here in Vancouver and Southwest Washington.”

Vancouver nonprofit KMR Group Foundation made a $100,000 gift to sponsor the event, according to the release.

“We are honored to partner with Legacy Salmon Creek on the new therapy room,” said Kate Jones, founder of the KMR Group Foundation. “We hope this space will enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.”
