RIDGEFIELD — Clark County Fire & Rescue Firefighters Association received a $7,830 grant from The Price Foundation to replenish its supply of smoke alarms. The association used the grant to buy 560 alarms to donate to the Clark County Fire & Rescue smoke alarm program. Clark County residents can have their alarms tested or replaced at no cost; the new alarm supply helps to keep the program free. The smoke alarms, which test for both smoke and carbon monoxide, have a 10-year battery and should be placed at every level of a home, and in every sleeping room as a way to double the chance of surviving a fire. According to Clark County Fire & Rescue, smoke alarms should be checked and batteries changed when clocks are changed for Daylight Saving Time, which will happen on Nov. 3. Those who would like to have their smoke alarms checked can contact Clark County Fire & Rescue at 360-887-4609.
