Drug takeback event planned for late October

Unused, expired medicines to be taken for free disposal

A handful of locations around Clark County will take part in a drug takeback event later this month, according to a news release from Educational Service District 112.

From 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, people can bring their unused and expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for free disposal at one of these sites:

• PeaceHealth Southwest Urgent Care, West 33rd and Main streets (south back parking lot) in Vancouver

• Kaiser Permanente Cascade Park, 12607 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver

• Battle Ground Police Department, 507 S.W. First St., Battle Ground

• Washougal Silver Star Search and Rescue, 1220 A St., Washougal

• Cowlitz Public Safety Department, 31501 N.W. 31st Ave., Ridgefield (La Center exit Interstate 5, south of ilani)

There is one more location for the event in Goldendale at Klickitat Valley Health, 310 S. Roosevelt Ave.

Pills, liquids and inhalers will be accepted. Medications may remain in original containers and labels do not need to be removed. Medications not in original containers will also be accepted.

Sharps and syringes will only be accepted at Kaiser Permanente Cascade Park and PeaceHealth Southwest Urgent Care.

Takeback events in Southwest Washington are funded in partnership with the state Health Care Authority.
