Vancouver teacher Erin Lark is among five state-level finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest award granted to STEM teachers in the country.
Lark is an environmental and life science teacher at Vancouver iTech Preparatory School. If she or any of the other four finalists are selected as national award recipients, they’ll travel to Washington, D.C., to attend events and professional development sessions. They’ll also receive a certificate signed by the president and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
The award was established by Congress in 1983 and recognizes exemplary teaching in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. As many as 108 educators could receive the award in any given year.
