A 31-year-old woman who was driving on a railroad track was taken to the hospital after being struck by a train late Monday in Vancouver’s Old Evergreen Highway neighborhood.

Vancouver police responded at 11:14 p.m. to 10601 S.E. Burlington Drive. The vehicle was moving on the track just east of a crossing, police department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

Unable to stop in time, the train struck the vehicle from behind, Kapp said. The woman, who was not immediately identified because police seek to notify next of kin, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Impairment is a “possible factor” in the crash, Kapp said. Police are continuing to investigate.
