Now’s the time to start cobbling together donations of nonperishable food and toiletries. Clark County’s largest food drive, Walk & Knock, is happening Saturday, Dec. 7.
“Clark County should be especially proud of this homegrown effort, now in its 35th year,” the organization’s president, Tom Knappenberger, said in a news release. “There’s nothing like it anywhere, and it’s all volunteers donating time, energy, money and materials.”
Those who receive The Columbian, The Reflector and the Camas-Washougal Post Record will receive grocery bags with their newspapers while nonsubscribers will get them in the mail. Also, high school students will hand deliver bags Nov. 30 in the area of Hudson’s Bay, Columbia River and Fort Vancouver high schools.
Walk & Knock asks that people put their donations on their front porch by 9 a.m. Dec. 7 for volunteers to collect. Walk & Knock needs more volunteers to pick up bags.
