Areas of fog are creating hazardous driving conditions in Clark County and beyond Monday morning.

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a short-term forecast for the Vancouver area and the usual listed county communities of Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Washougal, Yacolt and Amboy.

The fog developed overnight and is especially dense near rivers, including the Columbia, and the Interstate 5 corridor, the short-term forecast says. Visibility is down to 1,000 feet in some areas.

“Give yourself a little extra time for this morning’s commute as visibility may change suddenly and require slower travel. Bicyclists and pedestrians should wear bright or reflective clothing to increase the chance of being seen this morning, especially before sunrise,” the weather service said.

Vancouver’s forecast calls for rain, mainly after 10 a.m., and patchy fog before 1 p.m.  Morning fog will be recurring until Wednesday.
