The defense kept Kelso in the game early, but the offense could get little started against top-seeded O’Dea, as Kelso lost to the Fighting Irish 35-0 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs in Seattle.
The Kelso defense recovered two fumbles in the first half, including one in O’Dea territory. But the best the Hilanders’ offense could must was a field goal attempt that went wide in the second quarter, leaving O’Dea with a 7-0 edge.
The Irish took control in the third quarter, scoring 21 points.
Kelso was held to 40 total yards of offense. Josh Webb, who came into the game 1,428 yards rush, was held to 16 yards on 13 carries.
