Check out the weather headed our way this week.
In case you missed them, here are some of the top stories from the weekend:
CHEHALIS — Washougal senior Julien Jones told teammates that he just closed his eyes and prayed as he stretched his arm out and leapt toward the Bearcat Stadium grass in the third quarter. Somehow, the pass from Dalton Payne fell into his outstretched right arm as he bounced off the ground, a third-down 24-yard reception was more miraculous than the play-by-play suggested. Not only was it the best catch senior Brevan Bea has seen in person, it led to the Panthers’ go-ahead score, a 6-yard Payne touchdown run seven plays later.
It was the spark Washougal needed to run away with a 28-7 win over W.F. West in a 2A district crossover game Friday, sealing the Panthers’ first state appearance since 1999.

Last summer, SWAT officers surrounded the entrance of Motel 6 on Chkalov Drive in Vancouver as employees and customers at a pot shop across the street looked on.
Alisha Gonzales, an employee at The Herbery, said she watched as police arrested a young man and then escorted two children from the building. She characterized the raid as traumatizing but rare in its intensity. However, Gonzales said police patrol the motel daily, circling the area. Officers respond directly to the business several times a week, she said.

CAMAS — Shannon Turk isn’t sure if she won her re-election campaign for the Camas mayoral seat, but she knows the city needs to start the mending process after a tense three-month stretch leading up to Tuesday’s election.
The big-ticket item on the ballot in Camas was a bond measure for up to $78 million to build a new community center. It was voted down rather spectacularly, with nearly 90 percent of votes coming in against the measure. The bond campaign brought out a lot of negative feelings around Camas, some of which were directed at local officials and some directed at each other by residents.

It tried its best, but Saturday morning’s downpour didn’t drench any celebratory spirits during Vancouver’s 33rd annual Lough Legacy Veterans Day Parade at the Fort Vancouver National Site.
Big crowds still lined Officers Row while waves of participants — marching reservists to Gold Star families, roaring motorcyclists to horseback riders, high school bands to classic cars — just kept coming and coming, rain or no rain.
