CAMAS — Local charity Maggie’s Angels hosted its third annual Brew 4 Wishes fundraiser on Oct. 12 at Grains of Wrath Brewery & Restaurant. The event was held to not only honor the memory of Maggie Bye, who died from cancer in 2008, but also three local children whose wishes were granted by the organization. Bye, who was diagnosed when she was 15 years old, was able to meet designer Marc Jacobs through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Her family relocated to Camas to focus on the local chapter of Make-A-Wish. At the Oct. 12 event, Camas resident Camden Linton, 4, was honored. He was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of brain cancer with no cure and a low survival rate. Linton’s wish to visit Walt Disney World was granted in August by Maggie’s Angels, which raises between $20,000 and $30,000 a year through various events. Two other children were honored at the event, Savannah and Quinlyn. There was an auction, raffle prizes and drink specials, all together raising more than $10,000, which will sponsor the sixth wish for someone in the region. “We want to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for everyone who came to support this fundraiser,” Barb Bye, co-founder of Maggie’s Angels, said in a news release. “We are humbled by this community, and seeing joy in Camden’s wish experience is something we can deeply connect with. The memories made during a wish are priceless.” For the latest Maggie’s Angels events, including announcements for the fourth annual Brew 4 Wishes in October of 2020, follow maggiespinkangels on Facebook.
