Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, will host a roundtable event to discuss maternity mortality on Friday.

The event will include stakeholders from the Washington Department of Health, the Nurse Family Partnership, local OB-GYNs and medical professionals to discuss state-level efforts to keep women safe during pregnancy and childbirth.

Herrera Beutler worked to get the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act signed into law. The bill authorizes the Centers for Disease Control to give money to states for efforts to reduce maternal mortality.

The roundtable will also include a discussion on the newly released Washington State Maternal Mortality Review Panel reviewing maternal deaths from 2014 to 2016.

The discussion will be held from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. at Vancouver Clinic, 2525 N.E. 139th St., Vancouver.
