A driver told Vancouver police she lost consciousness before crashing into an apartment building Tuesday evening in the Bennington neighborhood.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email that the unidentified driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Firefighters, medics and police were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. to the Millennium Park apartments at 621 S.E. 168th Ave., for a report of a major crash.

Police determined that the driver failed to navigate a curve in the parking lot and crashed into an apartment, knocking over a city utility box and “partially embedding the vehicle into the building,” Kapp said.

“The report references the driver alleging she lost consciousness,” Kapp said.

The crash report has no information about speed or damage totals, she said. There were no reports of injuries beyond the driver.
