A man whose body was found early Saturday morning along a major street in east Vancouver died by suicide, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The 50-year-old man’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head, a medical examiner news release states.

Police officers and rescue personnel were dispatched at 5:49 a.m. to the 3000 block of Northeast 162nd Avenue to a report of a man down, according to police Sgt. John Schultz. The man was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives investigated because the man’s body had signs of injury, but Schultz said officers were not looking for anyone in connection with the death.
