Volunteer Opportunities

Firstenburg Community Center is in need of host/hostess volunteers to provide customer service and administrative support at the Trapedero II Lounge, where recreation based programs and services are offered from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays .

Clark Public Utilities is seeking Stream Team volunteers to help bring salmon back to the Salmon Creek Watershed. Volunteers can participate in events throughout the year that are suited for individuals and/or families.

Council For The Homeless – Winter Hospitality Overflow has an excellent opportunity for those needing an evening or overnight volunteer shift at either of two locations with an emphasis on friendly, nonjudgmental personalities who will make the guests feel welcome and valued. Volunteers serve in teams of at least two and perform a variety of tasks.

Lutheran Community Services Northwest offers in-home English as a second language tutoring services to eligible clients. Volunteers are needed to meet with students three hours a week for a minimum of six months. Volunteer office assistants with language skills are also needed to assist with client communication, make phone calls and set appointments, as well as assisting with typical office duties.

Share Backpack Program provides food-filled backpacks for children in need during the school year. Help is needed from 8:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday to assemble and deliver the backpacks.

Villages Clark County is a new community that helps people age in place. Volunteers are needed for a variety of opportunities including community builders, operations team members, social events coordinator and volunteer coordinator positions.

Other opportunities:

The Giving Closet offers free clothing to those in need. This fall, donations of men’s and boy’s clothes are especially needed. Look for the red donate flag in front at 2802 B N.E. 65th Ave, Vancouver, for your donation drop-off from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
