Fire north of Vancouver destroys shop, vehicles

A fire in the Sunnyside area north of Vancouver destroyed a shop and at least two vehicles Friday morning.

Vancouver fire crews were dispatched at 4:19 a.m. to 10206 N.E. 108th Ave. for the report of a shop fire.

The first crew to respond could see smoke and light from flames in the distance while en route to the address, said Vancouver Fire Department Captain Pete Adams.

When they arrived, a 30-by-30 foot shop was engulfed in flames, Adams said. The roof was collapsing and two vehicles inside the building were visible.

Firefighters had difficulty accessing the fire due to debris and additional cars scattered on the property. Vehicles and vegetation entirely blocked one side of the shop. So, crew doused flames from the outside until the fire was extinguished, Adams said.

Twenty firefighters — four fire engines, a ladder truck and two battalion chiefs — responded. Clark County Fire District 3 sent also sent a crew to the fire to help.

No one was injured or displaced by the fire.

The Clark County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
