The Salvation Army will celebrate the grand opening of its new, expanded facility in east Vancouver on Nov. 15.
The noon ceremony takes place at 1500 N.E. 112th Ave., where the nonprofit began in February constructing a new building on its existing property. The nearly 9,000-square-foot facility includes a food pantry, clothing room and offices.
An older, adjacent building was remodeled to expand the kitchen and convert office space into more classrooms for after-school programming.
“After years of exploring various options for expanding services in Vancouver, the decision was made to build on property we already own,” Major Michael Nute said in a news release. “The new building allows us to consolidate services that have operated for many years from a leased facility. This move saves us the most money and makes the most sense in bringing all services to a single campus.”
