The clouds were slow to break up Monday as a good marine push Sunday night blanketed the county. While we were struggling to reach 70 degrees here in Vancouver, cities in Puget Sound were headed toward the 80-degree mark at 5 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Nonetheless, it was still pleasant, even with the clouds, as temperatures were in the mid- to upper 60s. Great for most outdoor activities. And, most important, it was dry. We all saw those towering cumulus clouds in the late afternoon and evening hours over the weekend, mainly to our east. However, as you know, several of them ventured westward and rain fell late Saturday on most of Clark County, with Vancouver picking up .37 of an inch of rain.
That threat will dissipate today and we look forward to partly sunny skies today through the upcoming weekend. It must be getting close to June, as we will have those morning low clouds with afternoon sunshine all week. That’s what June is noted for, the first day of June is Saturday, so why not? We should have highs in the 70s, near to slightly above average.
Since we shouldn’t have any measurable precipitation the last days of May, we will end up below average by about 1 inch. As of 5 p.m. Monday, Vancouver had measured 1.55 inches of rain and those downpours Saturday evening helped push that upward.
