The definition of “pesky” is annoying, troublesome and vexatious. It is a weather person’s worst nightmare. I used that term in Thursday’s column to describe the low-pressure system dropping down from British Columbia over the long holiday weekend. Just as luck would have it, we had two weather systems to annoy us this holiday.
We had showers and cool temperatures Friday with a high of 62 degrees, and more showers were on tap Saturday night. So much for those 75- to 80-degree temperatures. I can just picture longtime faithful reader of this column, Denny Bourdeau of Vancouver, getting quite a chuckle at this.
Oh well, the days go on and so do we. Snow fell at the higher elevations in the Cascades this weekend, and I suspect it was pretty miserable camping in tents at the high lakes. No worry, it was windy and cold and drizzling at the coast too. You had to wear your winter jacket.
Actually, this was more typical of our usual Memorial Day holidays. We got spoiled the last four years with sunny days and warm temperatures. We should, fingers crossed, see more sunshine today and Monday with highs leaving winter mode into late spring-early summer mode, into the 70s.
