Petty Officer First Class Tom Mayberry, a 2007 graduate of Mountain View High School, is a yeoman forward-deployed to the installation in Yokosuka, Japan, as the leading petty officer of the administrative unit there. In a recent press release, Mayberry credited lessons learned in Vancouver as having contributed to his success in the Navy. “My parents taught me to work hard and to keep going even when it gets tough,” Mayberry said. He has completed a deployment around the entire world, a tour Mayberry described as daunting, but “definitely worthwhile.”
